Synopsis

The present study aims to make explicit what is the social isolation caused by the virus COVID-19 and the impacts caused on the lives of women, since, in a potentiated way, it generated a great increase in the cases of domestic violence. Analyzes of the relationships between social isolation and the increase in domestic violence were carried out through qualitative and descriptive research using data from news reports and reports from the Military Police of Minas Gerais-PMMG and the Civil Police of Minas Gerais-PCMG. Information was collected regarding the care provided to women in the midst of the pandemic scene, with the aim of choosing other means of refuge, such as seeking accommodation away from the abuser or seeking help from family members, making the complaint by applications provided by the public security bodies. and even emergency numbers are already an existing possibility. It is concluded that when fulfilling the determination of the World Health Organization-WHO, social isolation negatively boosted the number of complaints of violence against women in the respective months, from March to August of the years 2019 and 2020, pointing out the weakening of protective measures for victims of
domestic violence, with the initiative for new measures to ensure the lives of these women during social isolation.
